A riot of colour

You might think this was taken in an alpine meadow in the Austrian Tyrol but “no” this is a grass verge on the edge of a major roundabout on the A1 to the south of Dunbar. I think it says masses more than your average formal garden with ‘Dunbar’ picked out in contrasting flowers. It’s a riot of colour, promising a heady experience that I am not sure Dunbar can live up to. However, tomorrow is the lifeboat festival down at the harbour and Dunbar does really come alive at this event far more so than in the civic week. It’s a celebration of the courage of the lifeboat crew and the services they offer but also a reminder of the real origins of this town not as a resort but as a fishing village which grew up around a natural sheltered harbour.
