Kniphofia

From a distance, these “Red Hot Torches” (Kniphofia or Tritoma) are just a blaze of color and form, but up close and personal, they have a divine delicacy about them. The hummingbirds love them, so I keep a few patches in the garden as sustenance. I don’t know which one this is….another one of those “lost tags.” I used to have about six different cultivars, but only the hardiest have survived. The ice storm two winters ago certainly weeded out any of the marginally hardy, zonal-denial plants that I had.
