An Allegory

Having waited until 11am this morning for the rain to appear to stop, we sallied forth in waterproof gear just in case, and our pessimism was rewarded with a severe wetting with a return of the rain and ground hugging mist.

If there were lovely sandy beaches, they were lost to view as the raindrops dripped off the edges of our helmets and down the back of our necks.

Eventually we found solace in the pub at Kettletoft for a welcome bowl of soup and a view over the becalmed water with this plough on the sea wall.

His Lordship in poetic mood thought this an allegorical image for the harvesting of both land and sea.

EDIT
With the last spoonful of soup, the mist cleared and we had an enjoyable tootle aboot of 25 miles with a visit to Lady Village and a beautiful sweep of white sand at Whitemill Bay. We even found a shop open to buy our supper.
So a very good day after all!
