Worse Wednesday

Poor baby Bay had another rough night. He's having intravenous antibiotics every 6hours plus Calpol every 6hours and Nurofen every 8hours. None of the times coincided and plus being woken for observations meant he still a hadn't managed much sleep.
The blood results showed sky high inflammatory markers of 279 (normal around 10 to 20). He's also anaemic (iron deficient) but consultant says that is incidental and wouldn't be linked to infection. As he can't settle, as his cry still altered and only tolerated being held in one position the consultant performed a lumbar puncture. Horrid to put such a small boy through something so painful and not without risks. An anxious couple of hours passed, Bay scarily then developed small spots over his head and back, but he did seem a little brighter. Then the wonderful news came back from the lab that the CSF sample showed no signs of meningitis.
By the evening Bay managed to eat some solid food and had had a good feed. Nathaniel went for an extra day at nursery so Andy could be win us today. In the picture Bay and Andy are catching up after missing each other lots yesterday!
