Grow Wild

14.6C with bright spells in the morning then clouding over with light rain in the afternoon. Light breeze.

I harvested the second early potatoes from four of the big containers this morning. I put one Maris Peer seed potato in each. A very decent harvest. Once they are eaten I will harvest the even bigger containers each of which had three seed potatoes.

While the sun was still out I took this shot of the flowers in the circular bed in the middle of one of the lawns in the back garden. We usually have a wigwam of Sweet Peas surrounded by Nasturtiums, but this year for some fun I sowed a packet of Wild flower seeds and left in the seeds which had fallen from last year's Nasturtiums. The result is a very colourful flower bed and we are enjoying the range of flowers. We got the seeds free from an offer BBC's Countryfile had promoted, the seeds coming from Kew Garden's Grow Wild campaign.

After lunch, and before the rain came, Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk. We went down the road to the cycle path, along to the level crossing and down to the beach. The tide was coming in and the Westhaven boats were all floating at their moorings.
