The Breda lighthouse

I spent the day in Breda with son no 2 in order to find housing for him for when he starts his Masters there. The weather was promising, the housing not so much. What possesses people to let out so-called 'studios' which you wouldn't put a bunch of chickens in -maybe my friends have very luxurious henhouses ;-) -

And then there was the joy of the trains, what on earth is wrong with the railways nowadays. Power cuts everywhere, people being told that in order to go to the airport by train from the South they'd best take a detour going East first. And we managed to get into the wrong train on the way back because the signing was so dismal. Which meant an hours worth of detours.

Ok, enough of a rant, to get back to the weather, it was a lovely warm day and the Breda lighthouse looked very good in this light. It's art, an architectoral sculpture by master artist/architect Aldo Rossi. It's not very clear what it's doing hundreds of miles from the sea in the middle of the Academie singel, the Breda city moat encircling the city centre, but it's certainly a Breda landmark.
