The Bijenkorf

The Bijenkorf - Beehive in English - is a sophisticated warehouse founded in 1870 and can best be compared to Harrods in London.

It's architecture is inspired by the Palace on the Dam which lays opposite to this main entrance on the short side. The long side is enormous and lays on the Damrak. In total it's a 20.000 square meter! shop that's built in a historical style between 1912 and 1915.

Since 2001 it's gained the official status of a monument. If ever in Amsterdam it's worth while a visit!.
