Fossil Hunters

After a quick breakfast we drove to Penarth to have a look round the gallery where Clare works and organises the education programme. They had an interesting show of Welsh-based photographers. After a burst of culture, we went and bought a sandwich and walked further than we'd planned to get to the fossil beach along the coast for a picnic and fossil hunt. It was brilliant searching the beach, and we found some beauties. We'd taken the coastal path on the way there, but walked back along the beach to pick up some heavy chunks of Alabaster rock. I've never attempted rock carving before, and am looking forward to seeing what I can make. We just had time for a quick ice cream when we got back to Penarth before we had to go and collect their arts-ice cream van, and take it back to it's home in the skate park. We hung around for a while with a beer and watching the skaters, whilst G relived his skating years. We spent the evening picking a feast of food at the local Chinese restaurant (I'm not a fan of Chinese food, but this was great- even for veggies), and watched the World Cup play-offs in the pub. Back at Clare's, it seemed the perfect time to have a tasting session of all her whiskey samplers. It turns out none of us really like neat whiskey, and we soon went back to the beers.
