... music. You can't beat it -- when it's good anyway! This is De Temps Antan, a trio from Quebec who played folk music, to a much higher standard than any French groups who've visited. In Quebec they play Irish music, but instead of bodhrans they use their feet to do step dancing; they had boards wired for sound to tap their feet on. They were great, very lively and as you can see, they clearly enjoy playing together. They had very cute and somewhat exaggerated Québecois accents too. There's a video here that should get your feet tapping, though perhaps not as skilfully as theirs (they tried to show us but it takes some practice to tap your feet asynchronously!).

At the end of the show, as usual the audience roared for an encore, and they were about to do one, when all the power went off except for a couple of lights. so they did a very lovely bit of a capella singing, illuminated by a cellphone and a cigarette lighter. Best show so far, though there hasn't been much competition yet.
