Hoy Hills

A great afternoon for being out in the Hoy Hills. If the wind drops back you can sometimes catch the solitary wheep of the Golden Plover or the throaty croak of the Raven. This year there's also a healthy number of Stonechats chucking away not too far from the path.

There's some superb walking on Hoy including this track which leads back from Rackwick to the Hoy Pier via the Sandy Loch. A carved stone tablet has been placed along this track with a quote from a George Mackay Brown text. Nearly eveyone walks past it. It is a work of delight to enhance anyone's appreciation of the hills.
