Porty People and Places

All our thoughts today are inevitably turned skywards. The freedom to fly safely across clear blue skies is under threat in a way unprecedented since 9/11. As a frequent flyer and privileged to be familiar with both Schiphol and KL airports I have added empathy for all those caught up in this unspeakable act of war against innocent fellow travellers.

This event coincides with a day when Israel mobilises its formidable forces and further innocent casualties, on both sides, are the result.

Both conflicts are caused by disputed territorial domination. It is as if we seem to have learnt little since the tragic events of the summer of 1914.

I would be so happy and relieved to be proved wrong.
