Barrage de Sautet

On Bastille Day we had our first outing from the gite near Selle en Beaumont where we were to spend the week. We drove the short distance to Lac du Sautet where we saw the first of the dams which create a system of hydroelectric reservoirs along the valley of the Drac. We'd hoped to let the children go on the zip slide across the dammed ravine but it was closed. It was also not possible to borrow equipment for the via ferrata. So we went to the bathing area where the water was cold and full of little bits of wood. All that was left to do was to wait five hours for the fireworks. Our family gave up at this point and returned to the gite!
