Thistle Down

By Ethel

Smiles

Smiles...are muscles stretching,
Running down the face.
Slanting on the fore-head,
Finishing up a race.

Spreading love abundant,
And making dimples show.
With pearly teeth embedded,
All standing in a row.

Happiness is seeping,
And notes are being sung.
And little phrases...joyfully,
Are lifted off the tongue.

Loving sweetness...always,
Ripples in a grin.
Eyes invite the inward charm,
To let the feelings in.

Facial fashions linger,
And comes in many styles.
But the reading of a countenance,
Is told by loving smiles.
