Blue sky, beach, and boy

It's been yet another scorching day in the north west of Scotland. I think that this is the first time that I have experienced sand too hot to walk on barefoot in the UK.

The bike repaired, we cycled to Kentra Bay for a day on the Singing Sands. This beach is quite difficult to access - the car park is 3 miles from the shore - but the tandem makes short work of the forestry track. We shared the long stretch of sand with about five other parties. You'll see from the blip that we had plenty of space to ourselves.

It was so hot today that it really wasn't worth bothering with wetsuits and we both swam here, and later in Loch Sunart when we returned to Rockpool House for supper, in just our swimming costumes.

It's also been a good day for wildlife. We watched porpoises in the loch at breakfast, saw an eagle on our cycle ride back from Kentra, and spotted another two eagles above Rockpool House at supper time.

Exercise today: 20 miles of cycling, swimming in the sea and the loch.
