The barbequer

Set off early for the Lake District this morning. Was on the road by 6.30am, but was hoping to be away by 6.00. Didn't know what to expect with the M25 but in the end it turned out OK with the exception of a crawl through the roadworks on the northern side just west of the M11 junction.

Rapidly went downhill after that, M6 reported an accident between J12-14 and then later a full closure between 17-18 o both sides of the motorway.

Quick check of the map sent us along M54 and then along the A roads through Whitchurch eventually joining M6 north of the blockage. A longer journey but at least we were moving. Arrived at the Hill of Oaks site at around 2.15pm after expecting to be there by 1.00pm.

Had a phone call from David to ask where we were. He'd left campsite as there was no mobile signal and was waiting by Newby Bridge. He'd just arrived and was making the call as we came around the roundabout.

The rest of the day was more relaxing. Into Bowness for a stroll and a drink, then back to the caravan for this barbeque. A glorious evening in the Lake District. Looking forward to sleeping in a caravan for the first time since I was a nipper.
