Celebrate

Over the last week we have been running a number of art workshops in conjunction with Queens Cross Housing Association at Mackintosh Queen's Cross as part of Celebrating the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Last week we had workshops on designing a clay tile and today we had a workshop on creating a stained glass design. The children loved it.

The Commonwealth community represents a third of the world’s population and brings together 71 diverse cultures. Now the four Scottish Lottery distributors, Big Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland, Heritage Lottery Fund and sportscotland have come together and created Celebrate – to offer Lottery funding support to communities across Scotland as they celebrate and are inspired by this landmark event.

Celebrate helps communities across Scotland to come together to hold arts, heritage, sports and local community celebrations of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Celebrate also supports communities to celebrate the diversity of the Commonwealth and create a legacy of community and Commonwealth connections.

Day one, great start for Scotland in judo and the pool.

Our Celebrate programme continues on Saturday with a fun event for all. We have music, art workshops, exhibition, cakes, refreshments and all in the beautiful surroundings of the Mackintosh Church. The event is free and runs from midday till 5pm. On show we still have the Mackintosh Music Cabinet and the fabulous painting by Avril Paton. So please come in and enjoy the entertainment.
