Pimms o'clock

On days like today it is so good to get into the pool and have a swim. Speaking of swimming, I'm just watching the swimmers race in the Commonwealth Games....they are fabulous to watch.

I met up with Kath in town this afternoon, it was very hot and sticky in the city and I was in need of hydration when I got off the tram. We walked, slowly, down Market Street and it was an effort to walk and talk at the same time. We ended up at the Cathedral Cafe and the cameras were still in the bag. As we ordered some lunch I spotted a beekeeper on the roof of the Cathedral. Apparently there are hives up there and some on the roof of the Arndale too. The worker bee is one of the symbols of Manchester, so it is very apt to have all the hives.

Feeling fortified we wandered off in search of a pic. There was an interesting protest on King Street...on one side were the Israelis supporters and on the other were Palestinian supporters, there were rows of police separating them and a no mans land in between. I think there were more police than protestors and nothing was kicking off so we moved on.

The jazz festival is on at the moment so we ended up in Albert Square sitting in the sunshine doing some serious people watching. Kath's friend joined us when she finished work and we bought a jug of Pimms. It is the perfect Summer drink!
