Holiday day 1

Not a bad night jet lag wise...only up a couple of times. The noisy (and croaky!) rooster didn't help mind you. Went up to see her horses with L and ended up taking them and the dog for a walk round historic mining village area-never walked a horse on a lead before!
After brunch made with freshly laid eggs left by the neighbour we went to collect our hire car and then stopped in at a mall to have a pootle round and get a feel for what's here. Managed to find some good things to take home for K's art work. Odd to have gone from ranch life to consumer city so quickly. Unbelievably hot-close to 100 degrees apparently, but of course the car and the shops all chilly!
Met up with M&H for fresh fruit iced smoothies and a look around Stanford and later decided to go into Palo Alto for dinner at Burmese restaurant. Delicious! Followed by a US version of the passeggiata under the illuminated trees.
Already feeling very relaxed!
