Happy campers

We haven't actually gone anywhere yet. But we will soon. And since we have only ever put this tent up once, and that was ten years ago, we thought we'd better have a practice (and check that the tent was still usable). So we found a patch of grass to try it out. It turned out to be easier than expected, but it still took us an hour to put it up and take it down again. Now we are making a list of all the stuff we need to take with us.

In other news since my last blip: we went to see Robert Guédigian's latest film, Au Fil d'Ariane. We'd been warned that it wasn't very good, but really, it was awful. One of the worst films we've sat through without actually walking out. 90 minutes of vapid smiles from Ariane Ascaride. A tart with a heart of gold. A talking tortoise (yes, really. It played a major part in the plot). Scenes of such cringing sentimentality that they literally caused my toes to curl. It was basically a home movie and should have stayed that way, rather than expecting people to pay to watch it. Hey ho. We finished off the evening at the Tira-tap, so it wasn't entirely a waste of time.

And we were back there this evening with friends. This place is so good. I'm always happy to introduce people to it, and two of our friends hadn't been before; they were converted to faithful clients by the end of the evening, after copious tapas, a couple of bottles of wine, and multilingual banter from Maria and other clients (it's not every day you are addressed in Russian by a passing Pole).
