Morning stretches

Stayed in the city this weekend. Felt it was time to be a bit further away from water for my Sunday Sunrise photo. Ran to the top of Maungawhau. Just before I got to the trig station, a young woman who had walked to the top with a backpack of some size started to stretch her hamstrings. In the background, the incipient sunrise is colouring the clouds.

I stayed at the top for about five minutes getting a series of photos of the sun moving steadily from behind the clouds to fully seen. There must have been some haze still, as it was far from dazzling. Although tempted by one or two of the other shots, this records the ambience at the top on a cool winter morning. Walker stretching while watching the sky. Through the rails are some of those who were seriously waiting to snap the first sight of the sun from the lookout. Unseen (behind me) was the dogged runner who while I was there completed three circuits of the path around the rim of the crater.
