Lascaux II

Went to Montignac where we had a picnic lunch on the river before heading to see Lascaux.
Absolutely amazing place, stumbled upon by 3 French teenagers in 1942 and one of the most visited places in France. They had to close the original caves in the 60's as the sheer volume of visitors was changing the atmosphere inside the caves and causing the art to begin to erode. So they built an exact replica, and I mean exact. We had a very knowledgable guide who, despite doing this as a daily job still managed to convey the history and story of the paintings with passion and enthusiasm. The homemade candle the painters used were so cool too, they used juniper as a wick as it gives off white smoke.
We returned to the campsite for swimming, BBQ and more guitar.
