Tents

I missed WOMAD last year, but this evening got back to the familiar small town whose infrastructure is built each year by people dedicated to promoting wonderful music from around the world and whose inhabitants then arrive to erect their dwellings and shops. It is a monumental act of faith that’s been working for decades.

Highlights this evening were strings: the prodigious guitar-playing of Richard Thompson; the playful throwing around of tunes, harmonies and especially time-changes between Catrin Finch on harp and Seckou Keita on kora. Infectious playfulness.
