An Avid Lensman

Sunset Glow over the Barley Field

Wednesday 23rd July

I just had to return to my new favourite tree.

An hour after sunset, a deep glow hung radiantly over the wonderful Wiltshire landscape. To include the best of the glow but also that cut-throat razor sharp footpath - isn't that just the BEST footpath?? - I used the Samyang fisheye lens.

The hillside really does curve up like that on the right but keeping the camera fairly level minimises the usual distortion inherent in fisheye lenses. It also helps prevent stray tripod legs from infiltrating into the bottom of the frame. I also cropped a little from the right.

Why the big expanse of sky? Well, it's beautiful, that's why!
