That's Darrell. Cats don't seem to thrive in our neighborhood, but the coyotes look well fed. Darrell has survived for eleven years. I can't help wondering if he helps the coyotes locate other cats in exchange for his own safety.

When he's not making his daily inspection of the neighborhood, or working toward the extermination of all furry and feathered creatures from the woods behind our house, he likes to bask in the warmest place he can find. Sometimes it happens to be a sunny spot in the middle of the street, today it was the car. Some people would be upset by that. I'm not bothered a bit -- that's not our car, and he's not our cat.
