Green Belt

Just beyond the northern edge of London, where the M25 motorway sweeps round, the landscape suddenly becomes remarkably rural. In this view across the crop field there is, admittedly, a row of electricity pylons - but that is common enough in far more isolated parts of the country. In this shot, I doubt whether you can even spot the top of a lorry passing along the motorway at the top of the ridge.

This is part of the valuable green belt around London, designed to stop the urban sprawl spreading endessly. It is vigorously protected by local communities who fight any proposal for developments in this area. I certainly appreciate the benefit it brings.

I particularly liked the texture of the crop in the foreground, and that lovely sky.
