Life through the lens...

By ValC

A real Star.

After yesterdays busy day in the garden, it was nice to have a restful day today.
Meeting up with MrC's brother and his wife. G & J. who came over for coffee, and then we all drove out to a the little village of Sancton, near Beverley, to have lunch at The Star.
A very old pub, which has been very sympathetically renovated and added to.

Always a good sign too, when outside the kitchen door, there are numerous pots full of every herb you can think of, along with pots of pea shoots, tomatoes, squashes, celery, beans, and other vegetables. (see on the right of the building)

Well worth the drive.( Mainly on the M62) and as G was driving, even better!
The Yorkshire Lunch menu at £16.95 for two courses, is a bargain for such high quality food.

We all had starters of:
Filey crab cake, pickled fennel, and borage dressing.

Main course:
3 had ...... Kirby Malzeard lamb shank, boulangere potatoes, garden mint and pea puree, and red wine jus.
I had..... Syke House pork loin steak, panache beans, fresh picked gooseberry and thyme juices.
A large dish of vegetables as well. ( Carrots, broccoli, peas, and courgettes)

The desserts sounded delicious, but we were all too full, so just finished with coffee.
Accompanied by a jar of homemade chocolate brittle.

A wonderful lunch, enjoyed by us all. ( forgot to mention the two glasses of Pimms J and I had, each!)

I think we deserved it after yesterday's efforts!
Hope we can go again soon!
