Flowering Maple

Here's another one of those plants that has to winter in the studio. The hummingbirds love these prolific flowers, as do butterflies and bees. Of course, this is not really a maple, even though the common name references those trees due to the similar leaves. This is Abutilon 'Kirsten's Pink." These pretty 3 inch blossoms will open until we bring the plants in at the first frost. The buds on this nearly three foot shrub are a pretty salmon, though the flower opens to pink.
