Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

A day of contrast

We have spent the day in Newport visiting the summer seaside "cottages" i.e. mansions of the 19th C super, super rich. We were particularly impressed with The Breakers, the 1895, 70 room summer estate of Cornelius Vanderbilt II. God, there must have been a lot of money in railways!. Especially in the days when there was no income tax to be paid.

We are now back in Cranston. We spent so much money on the car yesterday that now we can only afford an hotel among the derelict factories along the canal!
