Happy Yorkshire Day!

A day out today despite the iffy weather. We headed to Helmsley in North Yorkshire as the east looked as thought it might get marginally better weather than the west, to meet up with friends Ron and Ian who were coming down from Northumberland. As ever it was lovely to see them and we were amazed that it was December when we last met with them at Barnard Castle.

We had a lovely catch up over coffee and lunch and then enjoyed the market and colourful shops in this lovely North Yorkshire market town.

I wanted something that said Yorkshire Day for my blip and this shop window belonging to Elijah Todd newsagent seemed to say it all. (Not to mention the name!) Ian pointed out the alley next to it so 'Clothes Prop Alley' was included too.

At the back of the square is a lovely stream and we watched a bride and groom, lucky with the weather, having a photo shoot by a wall covered with roses but then watched in astonishment as he hopped over the stream and together with the two photographers, expected the bride to cross the stream too! Luckily she had her trainers on and made it with help but it struck us as being particularly bonkers!
She got a round of applause!

As we returned we drove through an absolute cloudburst and there is quite a bit of rain here now too so we, and the bridal pair did very well.

We have a Yorkshire Day quiz to go to tonight. We are last years' winners together with our team mates R and Corinthian Column. Wonder if we can retain the trophy?
