Capital adventures

Determination

Early start, day 2 of interviewing, dash to station, #2 son late but no worries, off on train to Glasgow.  Shuttle bus, gridlock and long walk and then we were there, Hampden at 2 minutes to 6, just as a competition started.

Luckily we were in the stand, dry, as it poured for most of the evening.  Discus, a very soggy women's long jump, 200m men and womens', David Weir winning a Gold and Eilidh Child winning silver.  A fantastic Mexican wave, the Hampden roar and a phenomenal rendition of '500 miles'.

Convoluted route back to the shuttle bus, a bizarre queuing system, the 'secret' train home and expensive car parking ( the burgers, chips and beer were also expensive).

It was a great night out and fascinating to watch the clyde-siders lay out the hurdles with military precision and to see how medal ceremonies were done elsewhere, but TIS was still the best!
