Sgwarnog: In the Field

Gatekeeper

A little later than elsewhere, the first Gatekeeper of the year has finally emerged on the moor.

Although there's been a fair bit of rain, it's been warm, and in those rare moments when the sun has broken through the grass has erupted with butterflies. Lots of Green-veined and Small Whites, still a fair number of Small Skippers, Small Heaths and increasingly bedraggled Ringlets.

Filed under Butterflies2014 - the sixteenth species of the year I've blipped, of nineteen that I've seen.
