Goodbye Munich

Our last morning in Munich, and we were not sure what to do given the limited time we had left there. We wanted to go to see all the wonderful art museums, especially the Pinakotech, but we realised that we did not have enough time to see them properly. Instead we went to see the home of the greatest football team in the world, Allianz Arena - c'mon, admit it all you English football supporters, Bayern Munich are currently the most brilliant football team around. It is an impressive stadium, housing over 71 000 people.

On the route back to Switzerland we did a detour via the beautiful and romantic Neuschwanstein Castle. This was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a private retreat and also as a homage to Richard Wagner. It is well known as the inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty castle.

Our weekend in Munich was wonderful and we all loved the city - we will go back to visit it again. And when we got back to Switzerland, I was delighted to see Murdoch again.
