Lead

Lead

Tunnels, built with the blood of lead miners. Some as young as six years old. So many deaths, so many stories, such poor working conditions. Life used to be so hard for many people. How easy we forget. We took a trip on a metal boat along the tunnels carved out of solid rock. It was fascinating, but also horrifying - just to think of people having to work so hard for such a small amount of lead ore.

It was not a cheerful trip (Castleton Speedwell Caverns), but important none the less. Less we forget.....
