Fuzzy Magnolia - a different type of cone

There were a pair of magnolia trees on the office park we visited this morning, and they had a different type of seed on them after the flower, they were fuzzy; I would call them downy. The leaf was similar to other magnolias I have seen, but it must be a different variety. They were tall, and very columnar in their shaping. I would love to find out what specific variety they are as I would use them in landscaping projects; they are just so beautiful!
