Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

The true price of fish.

We have spent our last full day in the US on the coast, North of Salem. This is the fishermen's memorial in the old fishing town of Gloucester, which commemorates those who have died on the rich fishing grounds. An adjacent series of bronze plaques names the 5368 fishermen who died at sea between the 1700s and the present day. Of 1000 ships lost, 265 were lost with all hands.
