The Devil's Teeth

The walkway to Cramond Island in the River Forth, has these to stop boats from sailing over a stretch of water which might not be all the it seems - it's only an island at high tide!

I've never been across as my Dad, who was a Marine Pilot said that they were forever rescuing people off of the island, when they hadn't paid heed to the tidal signs.
