Ugly Beauty

One of the local papers recently ran an article on the Embassies in Warsaw and it focussed rather heavily on this, The British Embassy. It opened in July and whilst it was designed with environmental efficiencies and safety in mind, the jury reached the verdict of something along the lines of beautiful on the inside, ugly on the out - metaphorically referring to the opaque fencing which distorts one's view of the flora and fauna. (Not that that it is visible under the white stuff...)

I have to say, it's quite a picture when the sky is blue and the sun bounces off the glass, but agree that it's otherwise a little bit of a monstrosity. The competition is the slightly older, but much funkier Dutch Embassy, which is located next door. Embassies aren't the best buildings to try and photograph, but given that this was in the public domain in that article I mentioned, I reckon it's fair game. Anyway, if you think this is ugly, you should see the US Embassy!
