Psion Series 3mx.

Back in the days before phones and smart phones and phablets and the internet and sliced bread and X-Factor, a British company produced THE best portable computers ever. Yes, a BRITISH company.

The Psions were awesome - true multi-tasking, crashed about once every year, batteries that lasted 6 months, instant power on - absolutely superb. I recently dug my old one out to get my flight planning software running on it which I wrote over FIFTEEN years ago - and it's still as good as ever!

The reason they eventually disappeared? Microsoft. WinCE and eventually Windows Mobile - total garbage in comparison. Even now, Windows Phone is not true multitasking in the way that EPOC (the Psion OS) was. EPOC ended up in most of Nokia's phones - and guess who bought Nokia.

Once upon a time, Britain was Great.
