Valley of the six Glaciers - Lake Louise

Staying in the comfy if slightly eccentric Deer Lodge ( no TV in the room and D feels the corridors remind her of a youth hostel). Lovely meal last night but opted for cheap breakfast in town.

Spent most od the day doing 10 mile hike. Started at the turquoise Lake Louise ( every bit as beautiful as we'd expected ) then walked up the Plain of six glaciers trail to the tea house at 2100 metres. Lots of folk about but still some snow lying. Stunning views of the nearby peaks ( including a Mount Aberdeen) and plenty blips taken. Enjoyed a hearty bowl of soup for the return trip which took in Lake Robson (slightly higher if busier tea room) and the sublime Mirror Lake. Lake Louise itself is really nothing to write home about. The Chateau Lake Louise is enormous but hideous. The lakeshore is very busy with bus parties and there is little of interest in the village.
