Bowled Over Again!!!

Today another indulgence, it was the district Auld's trophy, 34 young bowlers from across the district competing against each other. There were 30 in the under 11 age group split into 4 groups for a round robin tournament. The four group winners were drawn to play a semi final and then a final.

Fraser was truly magnificent, he won his round robin group by a long way and drew a player from the host club in the semi-final. He won his semi 8 - 0 not having to play the final end, then came the reigning champion and another home player. Undaunted he set about this game in the same fashion and won 8 - 1 not having to play the final end again. What was lovely was his nativity, when with an end to play his opponent was called to bring the mat down as the match was finished he looked totally lost, he did not realise he was so far ahead he could not be caught.

He was very relaxed about the whole thing, I genuinely do not think he realises how big an achievement his win is, all of the juniors in the district were there and he appeared head and shoulders above all of the under 11's I cannot tell you how proud I am of him.

Mimi too played, she did not manage to make it through to the semi-finals but played very well. I am proud of how both won with dignity and how they showed total respect to their opponents something sadly lacking on some...
