Quod oculus meus videt

Blue Sunset

About an hour before sunset there was the most glorious late light enticing me outside to take photographs. It was just one of those days when the clouds conspired and before you knew it, that warm light had been snuffed out, to be replaced by blueness.

By then it was too late so I took advantage of the cloud formations and this lone lilly pad. Sunrises and sunsets are becoming ever more civilised, at least here in the UK.

We have finally booked the Svalbard trip and are off on 30th August. To put it into context, sunset is at 22:36 on the day we arrive and sunrise is 3:09. When we leave 5 days later, sunset will be an hour earlier and sunrise an hour later. The transition from permanent daylight to the Arctic winter won't take long.
