Quod oculus meus videt

Saddened to Hear

Feeling quite melancholy today after hearing the sad news that a fellow Blipper passed away a few weeks ago.  Jill (Jillymint) will be better known to those of us who have been here since 2012.  She was an accomplished nature photographer and had turned her garden into a nature studio; I had the pleasure of meeting her there three years ago.  She was a wonderfully kind person, who remained ever positive despite the hand she had been dealt.  Those of us who got to know her on Blip and in real life were very fortunate.

Jill had a very aggressive form of Parkinson's disease, MSA, and this quickened her decline.  I was made aware of her passing from another Blipper and had the good fortune to have her son's email so was able to make contact with him yesterday to offer my condolences.  This is where the community of Blip is so wonderful because he asked if there were anyway of downloading her journal; I know it was one of Jill's hopes to be able to produce a book of her images which might be used to raise money for a MSA charity.  Anyway, I have been able to share LooseCanon's programme with him so he and his sister will be able to keep her images and words forever.

I know this has happened before on Blip and can only marvel at how the community responds to such situations.  I only hope it can continue to do so in the future.

And as I sit here writing this the sky to the west, over where Jill lived, has set alight as sunset approaches, as though she is smiling down on us.
