My Best Efforts - Year 3

Crabapples.......

.........which always look so sweet and juicy are very tart and virtually uneatable straight from the tree - though Crabapple Jelly is delicious!

Malus, apple, is a genus of about 30–55 species of small deciduous trees or shrubs in the family Rosaceae, including the domesticated orchard apple. The other species are generally known as crabapples, crab apples, crabs, or wild apples. This one is growing on the bank of the Beck.
I like the algae on some of the branches.

BOUI for today:-

1) Sometimes known as Fairy Fruit, I found this little rhyme:-

Crab-apples, Crab-apples, out in the wood,
Little and bitter, yet little and good!
The apples in orchards, so rosy and fine,
Are children of wild little apples like mine.

2) If you have difficulty in deciding which boy-friend is the right one, carve the initials of each one onto separate apple skins and the apple whose initials last the longest is the one to choose!! (do many of us have so many boyfriends!!!)

A really chilly start to the day - no sun - and very grey! - temperature at only 51 Deg.F.

Enjoy your day whatever the weather.
