The Pipe Track

Our Wednesday walk was advertised in the local Ramblers' group programme as 'Strathblane, the West Highland Way & Pipe Track' but that didn't nearly do it justice. There's no denying the excellent weather helped, as it would have been quite a different walk if the weather hadn't been so kind, but it was a very pleasant day out indeed.

Starting from the Kirkhouse Inn, to which we returned for coffee and cold drinks at the end of the walk, we walked through Strathblane and onto the John Muir Way, before joining the West Highland Way on its route northwards. On reaching Glengoyne, we cut off towards the distillery (which we didn't visit!) and then up towards the Pipe Track from which we returned to Strathblane. It was a walk of about 14/15km, but the distance and time passed by quickly due to the excellent conditions, beautiful scenery and good company - there were 27 walkers out today, which isn't bad going for a Wednesday walk.
