Milton's Walk, Cambridge.

This lane marks the boundary between Christ's college and the Victorian park known as Christ's Pieces. Milton's Walk was a medieval lane, originally called,'Christes Colledge Walke' in 1574 and renamed after the poet John Milton (1608-74), an undergraduate at Christ's who often walked along there. The park was once agricultural land and it is shown on a map of 1574 to have had a cereal crop. Later it became pasture. The path now links the bus station at Drummer Street with King Street. Now I am wondering why Drummer Street was so named. Must look it up.
