Empty Nest Syndrome

My daughter has gone back home and the house feels very empty without her.

In a camellia tree outside her bedroom window and almost pressed against the glass is this nest - empty. I have been watching to see if it would be reused, but it seems not. Do birds repair and reuse? Or do they build each season again from new? The exterior of the nest is very rough and ready but the inside is polished smooth.

It is a bit sad seeing it empty - what a great blip it would have made with a family in it.
