Super Bowl

This super bowl was manufactured by Spode, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, the city of my birth.

I grew up about half a mile from the factory, established in 1776 by Josiah Spode, and The Mount, the home of Josiah Spode II, stood at the top of our street.

The "Italian" pattern of this bowl was introduced in 1816 and has been produced continuously since that date. It is based on an ink and wash drawing attibuted to Dutch artist Frederick de Moucheron (1638-86).

The fact that colors resemble those of the Indianapolis Colts is purely coincidental.

Zeiss Planar T* 1,4/50.
