Saturday: Marija Braut

Marija Braut, who is pretty much a legend when it comes to photography in Zagreb, is having a retrospective at the Art Pavilion.  So this morning we went along to have a look.  

Her photography is excellent - no doubt about it.  But - I shall throw a slightly controversial statement out there - in relation to her, and others, such as Vivian Maier.  Sometimes photography is excellent in its own right - but how much is added to it because it captures a certain time in history?  Would it be as valid if the same photo was taken in the here and now?  Discuss.........I love Marija Braut's work, but I wonder if it is mainly because it captures a time I can't recreate.

Anyway, Marija Braut is alive and well and is regularly seen at a bar in Upper Town.  I have seen her there on many occasions, as has this excellent blipper.

As for this evening, we have been out with our friends, Gabi, and her boyfriend, Denis, celebrating one year of friendship.  A fine evening it has been!
