Destination: Fragrance Lake

I thought the WTA (Washington Trails Association) guide rated this hike as "Easy", but I found the steady uphill climb to be a real workout for my out of shape legs. Switchbacks helped take the edge off the steeper sections, but nevertheless, it was 2 miles of steady climbing the majority of the way.

The reward? Being surrounded by tall, majestic old growth forest, the sweet scent of the trees, all topped off with a stunningly pristine lake, Fragrance Lake, at the end of the trail. We sat for several minutes to catch our breath while Lola jumped in for a swim, pausing momentarily here to strike a pose.
