Sunny Sunday

This is the view from the towpath of the Union Canal in the centre of Edinburgh on a sunny Sunday morning before the forecasted chill and after some toast and marmalade at our almost canal side café.

Home via the Meadows full of little boys dressed in whites and playing cricket. Cricket? Were we seeing correctly? Yes in Scotland, in Edinburgh, in the land of golf, rugby and football, there were several mini games going on, for primary pupils.
What is happening or what is the occasion? We are more used to seeing football matches between muddy kneed youngsters taking over the ground.
We didn't interrupt the bowling to find out, but did linger long enough just to see someone actually hit the ball. There is some way to go before the fielders get any work to do.

Back at home it was a case of 'Eat your heart out Mary Berry' as two perfectly baked sponges rose to the challenge of a birthday cake for his Lordship's Birthday tomorrow.
Modesty prevents my blipping them .......at least for today.
